What are “cookies”?
Cookies are short text files sent from a website to the user’s web browser. Every time the page is visited again, cookies are re-sent to the site that originated them (first-party cookies) or to another website that recognises them (third party cookies).
Cookies are useful, because they allow websites to identify the user’s device, and have several functionalities, such as allowing the visitor to surf efficiently through pages, remembering favourite websites and improving the web browsing experience. They also contribute to guaranteeing that the advertising material is better targeted and more in line with user’s interests (behavioural targeting).
Cookies can last for just one session and get automatically disabled when the user close the browser; they can also have an expiration date and, until then, they remain active in the user’s device, collecting data session after session.
Information and data can be collected and saved in the user’s device via other technologies, such as pixels. In this document, “cookies” will be referred both to cookies and to other technologies.
Use of cookies by Rinascente

The cookies used on the Rinascente website are described below.
1 Technical Cookies
These are temporary cookies that allow users to access personalised services and improve the overall experience of the website. They are essential for the correct functioning of the website and for providing services such as session ID, accessing restricted areas of the website, saving items for later, processing an order. This type of cookies doesn’t need the user’s consent, but they can be partially or totally deactivated by changing the browser settings. By doing so, however, the website may not be able to provide a good user experience and some features may be unavailable. The user’s preferences about the cookies are saved by a technical cookie.
